Arminda Ferguson, JD

Senior Attorney and Practice Owner

Arminda Ferguson is an experienced immigration attorney with more than 30 years of dedicated practice in the field of U.S. immigration law. She is a graduate of the University of Texas, where she earned her bachelor’s degree, and the Texas A&M School of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor. She is admitted to practice law by the State Bar of Texas.

Throughout her three decades of legal practice, Ms. Ferguson has represented clients in a wide spectrum of immigration matters, including family‑based immigration, employment‑based petitions, and complex removal (deportation) defense. She has appeared on behalf of clients before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), advocating for individuals and families navigating some of the most challenging stages of the immigration process.

Her practice is deeply rooted in thorough legal analysis, strategic planning, and a comprehensive understanding of evolving immigration regulations. She is known for developing individualized strategies tailored to each client’s unique circumstances and long‑term goals.

In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Ferguson has served as the USCIS and ICE Fort Smith Liaison, strengthening communication channels between the immigration legal community and federal agencies. This role has enhanced her ability to anticipate procedural changes, advocate effectively, and guide clients through an increasingly complex immigration landscape.

Judy Cardenas

Firm Manager and Senior Paralegal

Judy joined the firm in 2014 as an administrative assistant and has grown within the organization over the years—becoming a case assistant in 2016, a senior paralegal in 2019, and, since 2023, serving as the law firm manager and senior paralegal. She earned her Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies from Northwest Arkansas Community College, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

With more than 11 years of experience in immigration law, she remains dedicated to serving the community with professionalism, compassion, and integrity. In her role, she oversees case preparation, supports the legal team, manages office operations, and ensures that clients receive clear communication and guidance throughout their immigration process.

Empathy is at the core of her work. She takes pride in understanding each client’s unique circumstances and helping them navigate what can often be an overwhelming and emotional journey. She is equally proud of her team, who share the same commitment to providing respectful and attentive service to every individual who seeks their help.

Originally from Ecuador, she has made Arkansas her home. She is a proud mother of two sons and an even prouder grandmother to two grandsons, who are a constant source of joy. Her family inspires her dedication to helping other families achieve stability and opportunity through the immigration process, and they remind her every day of the importance of compassion, patience, and commitment in the work they do. She is honored to serve a diverse community striving toward their dreams and a better future.

Karlie Lopez

Assistant Manager and Immigration Paralegal

Karlie Lopez is the assistant manager and senior paralegal specializing in employment-based immigration law, where she plays an integral role in supporting both clients and the firm’s daily operations. Her work centers on preparing a wide range of employment-based immigration petitions and applications, including PERM labor certifications, H-1B, H-2A and I-140 filings.

She is highly skilled in drafting legal correspondence, conducting regulatory research, monitoring case progress, and maintaining meticulous case documentation to ensure compliance with evolving immigration policies. In addition to her paralegal responsibilities, Karlie helps implement firm policies and procedures, oversees client intake and communication, and supervises staff to ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently. Karlie earned her Associate’s Degree from Northwest Arkansas Community College and her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Arkansas.

She began working in immigration law in 2022, driven by a lifelong passion for the legal field and a commitment to helping individuals and employers navigate the complexities of the U.S. immigration system. Her favorite part of the job is connecting with clients from diverse backgrounds, learning their stories, celebrating their cultures, and providing guidance during a challenging yet transformative time in their lives.

Outside of work, Karlie enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, and reading, as well as unwinding with Sudoku puzzles and true-crime podcasts. A proud first-generation college graduate, Karlie’s determination and empathy shine through in both her professional and personal life.

Daniela Cordero

Legal Assistant

Daniela is a legal assistant who supports the attorney and team with casework and client communication. She plays an essential role in keeping the office organized and ensuring that clients feel informed and supported throughout every step of their process.

Daniela earned her Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Missouri Southern State University. She began working in immigration law in 2024, driven by a deep desire to help individuals and families navigate the complexities of the immigration system. For Daniela, being part of her clients’ journeys and witnessing their positive outcomes is one of the most rewarding aspects of her work.

Outside the office, Daniela enjoys reading, traveling, shopping, and practicing self-care. A creative at heart, she loves making photo scrapbooks for her family, preserving cherished memories through images and stories. A proud first-generation college graduate, Daniela is the first in her immediate and extended family to pursue higher education.

Andrea Gonzalez

Administrative Assistant

Andrea is an administrative assistant who manages a wide range of front desk operations with professionalism and care. From answering calls and scheduling attorney consultations to processing payments, sending invoices, and responding to client inquiries, Andrea ensures that the front desk runs seamlessly and that every client interaction begins with warmth and efficiency.

As the first point of contact for prospective clients, Andrea’s welcoming presence helps create a sense of trust and comfort from the very first conversation. She finds deep fulfillment in delivering good news to clients and witnessing their joy and relief. These moments remind her of the meaningful impact her work has on people’s lives.

Andrea began working in immigration law in 2020, motivated by a desire to make a difference and support her community. She especially enjoys being part of a close-knit team where everyone contributes their unique strengths toward the firm’s shared success.

Outside of work, Andrea loves trying new restaurants, reading, and going to the movies. A fun fact about her: she finds serenity in simple moments, like driving home in light rain with the radio off, just listening to the gentle rhythm of the world.
